Dynamic Double Directional Propagation Channel Measurements at 28 GHz
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents results from the (to our knowledge) first dynamic double-directionally resolved measurement campaign at mm-wave frequencies for an outdoor microcellular scenario. The measurements are performed with USC’s realtime channel sounder equipped with phased array antennas that can steer beams electrically in microseconds, allowing directional measurements in dynamic environments. Exploiting the phase coherency of the setup, the multi-path components can be tracked over time to investigate the temporal dependencies of the channel characteristics. We present results for time-varying path-loss, delay spread, mean angles and angular spreads observed at the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) in the presence of moving vehicles and pedestrians. Additionally, we investigate excess losses observed due to blockage by vehicles and compare the cases when TX and RX are using fixed beams or when they are capable of adjusting beam directions dynamically.

Abstract—In this paper, we compare the radio propagation channels characteristics between 28 and 140 GHz bands based on the wideband (several GHz) and directional channel sounding in a shopping mall environment. The measurements and data processing are conducted in such a way to meet requirements for a fair comparison of largeand smallscale channel parameters between the two bands. Our results ...

This paper present the results from a 28 GHz channel sounding campaign performed to investigate the effects of outdoor to indoor penetration on the wireless propagation channel characteristics for an urban microcell in a fixed wireless access scenario. The measurements are performed with a realtime channel sounder, which can measure path loss up to 169 dB, and equipped with phased array antenna...
متن کاملValidation of Mutual Information Complying MIMO Channel Models
The MIMO channel models constructed via the principle of maximum entropy in [1], are compared to measurement data collected in a field campaign carried out in Oslo, Norway, at 2.1 GHz and 5.2 GHz. The measurements were performed at three different urban scenarios, a regular street grid, an open city place, and an indoor cell site with a bandwidth of 100 MHz. The fit between the models and the m...
متن کاملChannel Sounding System for MM-Wave Bands and Characterization of Indoor Propagation at 28 GHz
The aim of this work is to present a vector network analyzer based channel sounding system capable of performing measurements in the range from 2 to 50 GHz. Further, this paper describes an indoor measurement campaign performed at 26–30 GHz. The sounding system is capable of receiving two channels and transmitting one. Using this feature a channel measurement has been performed using both a dir...
